Plastic For Plates: A Disc Golf Tourney for Charity

I’m not much of a disc golfer, but when it comes to playing a few holes for charity, why the hell not?

Happy Saturday my beautiful stoners! I hope we are doing well, smoking well, and making that bread.

It’s been a beautiful couple days here in lovely Maine, and to celebrate the good weather, my girl and I decided to switch things up today.

We went to a disc golf tournament.

Hell yeah, you read that right. Cidney and I travelled to Lyman, ME, to visit Soylent Greens & Humble Family Farms at the popular Funky Boy Brewery. Funky Bow is conveniently situated next to Firefly Disc Golf course, so SG & HFF wanted to team up to create a an active event that not only benefits Full Plates Full Potentials, but there is also going to be a booth offering medical card consultations! So after playing a few rounds of disc golf, folks could leave the brewery with a brand new medical card!

Let’s give some background though— what is Full Plates Full Potentials? FPFP is a Maine based coalition battling the hunger and nutritional problems for children throughout the state. FPFP’s board members work tirelessly with various local sponsors and schools to bring the missing materials and ingredients. Lots of schools in Maine are not able to provide the nutrition a child needs to grow and thrive, so FPFP will work with those school and help them be able to feed more kids. Two of their big sponsors, Hannaford & Oakhurst Dairy, are just two big companies assisting in providing the investments and supplies needed to make FPFP successful. This is a wonderful organization, and I’m more than happy to help how I can.

Of course, you know our awesome homies Soylent Greens, a delivery service with wide range in both southern and central Maine. Humble Family, our homies in Auburn who just opened their first storefront! So excited for that awesome feat for a great time. SG also partnered up with Chronic Wellness, who was the Nurse Practitioner on scene offering medical marijuana evaluations!

Now let’s talk about some friendly competition! Mike (SG) and Doc (HFF) LOVE their disc golf, so this event was actually a tournament, for teams of 2. The buy-in was $40 ($50 for the Ace Pot) with $10 of each ticket going to FPFP. The top 3 winners of the actual tourney split the remainder of the prize money.

But how did ya girl and her girl do?

We, The Disc-O Girls, placed 6th overall with a total of 75 points between us. Not fucking bad if I must say so! For this being both of our first times playing competitively (really it was our first time playing disc golf). The course was huge, and certainly wasn’t an easy feat.

Big congrats to everyone who managed to hit an Ace (hole in one)! Looking at you especially Mike!

It was a great afternoon for a great cause, and you know ya girl will be involved in the 2nd annual. I appreciate the opportunity to be involved with companies that do amazing things for this beautiful state.

I hope y’all enjoy your Sunday, do take it easy. You will see me soon, don’t you worry.

Until then,

Cheers,
